What is it? Who is suited for?

Mastopexy or breast lift is a surgical procedure that improves the shape of the breast. The progressive loss of elasticity of the fibers of the skin is a natural consequence. Many women feel that after pregnancy, breast feeding or simply aging can lead to breasts loss firmness.

What is a mastopexy?

The stretched skin that goes from the areola towards the mammary fold has become ptotic and redundant. Therefore, mastopexy is a surgical intervention to remove stretched suspensory ligaments and excess skin, while the nipple-areola complex is raised to a more aesthetic level.

Usually the surgery does not last more than 2 hours, although this may vary depending on the patient. Usually requires one night of hospitalization.

It is very common to combine mastopexy with breast augmentation. Aesthetic results are better and scars are reduced. This is because filling the breast reduces the tissue that must be excised. For more information see our breast augmentation section.
