Clitoriplasty

The clitoris is in the upper junction area of the labia minora. It has a great number of nerve endings and plays a fundamental role in sexual activity because it is an erogenous zone.

Numerous causes can induce an abnormal enlargement of the clitoris, most of them are hormonal. Patients usually request a reduction of the clitoris for aesthetic or psychological reasons. In any case, the aim of this surgery is to obtain a more aesthetic clitoris, while maintaining its sensory and erogenous function intact.

At other times, and despite the size of the clitoris is strictly normal, what occurs is a redundancy or excess of the skin that covers it (commonly called “clitoral hood”). This can also be embarrassing for women and is another reason for requesting operation.

Although the techniques used are different depending on whether it is a true excess of length of the clitoris or an excess of the skin that covers it, all of them are globally named with the term “clitoriplasty”. These techniques allow greater exposure of the body of the clitoris, improvement of appearance and, in many cases, better sexual stimulation. These techniques may be combined with a reduction of the labia minora (labiaplasty), if they are hypertrophic.

These surgeries are usually performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis.

At Plàstica all our patients have included the revisions during the first year after surgery.
